Australasian Journal of Gifted Education


The Australasian Journal of Gifted Education is the official scholarly peer-reviewed publication of the Australian Association for the Education of the Gifted and Talented (AAEGT). The journal publishes original research, theory and related articles (including book reviews and interviews) on the education, training or development of individuals of high intellectual, creative, socioaffective or sensorimotor abilities, in all of their respective dimensions, broadly defined.

Two issues of the journal are published each year.



Subscriptions to the Australasian Journal of Gifted Education for one year (two issues) cost A$50 for personal subscribers and A$75 for institutional subscribers.

Subscriptions may be requested by clicking on AJGE Subscription Request at the bottom of this section, completing the form, and emailing it to the Treasurer of the AAEGT ( Once payment is received, the next two issues of the Australasian Journal of Gifted Education will be posted to you. Alternatively, it is possible to subscribe to the journal when becoming a member of a state/territory association of the AAEGT. Please contact the relevant state/territory association listed in the “Contact” section of this website, if you wish to subscribe to the journal through your state/territory association (please note that this option will cost A$30, but will also require you to become a member of your state/territory association for a separate fee).

Submission Guidelines

Manuscript submissions should be made by email to the editor (, with the following attachments:

  • A covering letter that outlines the title of the manuscript, the length of the manuscript, and the number of tables/figures (if any)
  • A title page that includes the title of the manuscript, full names and affiliations of all authors, the contact details of all authors (i.e., email, address, telephone), an indication of the corresponding author, and the date of manuscript submission
  • The blind manuscript with no author identifying information
  • Tables and figures, if any, as separate attachments

All manuscript submissions are initially screened for appropriateness and originality, before being subject to blind peer review by at least two anonymous reviewers.

Manuscripts that are submitted to the journal are only considered for publication on the condition that the manuscript, or a very similar manuscript: (a) has not been previously published, (b) is not in press, and (c) is not currently under consideration for publication by another publication outlet.

It is noted that all manuscripts are expected to:

  • Be typewritten, double-spaced, have margins of at least one inch, and use Times New Roman 12 font
  • Include an abstract of 100-150 words
  • Include 3 to 5 keywords
  • Follow the guidelines of the sixth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association

If any manuscripts incorporate copyright protected material, authors are expected to have written permission from the original publisher to reproduce this material. Moreover, appropriate acknowledgement will need to be given of the permission granted in the manuscript.

Apart from any fair dealing for educational purposes as permitted under the Copyright Act, no part may be reproduced by any process without written permission from the publisher. Moreover, it is noted that the articles that appear in the journal only represent the views of the authors, and are not necessarily representative of the views of the Australian Association for the Education of the Gifted and Talented.
