Gifted Awareness Week article submission guidelines
Every year we ask our community to create articles, poems, videos and artworks for Gifted Awareness Week Australia. The purpose of this is to raise awareness of giftedness in the wider community.
Despite years of research into what giftedness is, and how gifted students can be best supported, misperceptions and misunderstandings remain widespread.
We hope to counteract some of the myths around what it means to be gifted, as we believe that understanding will lead to greater compassion, support, and ultimately better outcomes for gifted young people.
We hope that overall our stories are positive in tone, and solution focused. They will be published on the Gifted Awareness Week Australia website and on social media in the lead up to and during Gifted Awareness Week Australia. They will then remain on the website, unless you specifically ask for them to be removed. Many of our previous articles continue to enjoy both national and international readership.
Submissions will be proofread by a member of the Gifted Awareness Week Australia Committee and contributors will be contacted before publication if any edits or additional information are required.
Thank you for considering sharing your story! We value the understanding, knowledge, experience and insights our gifted community have to share.
Submissions should:
- Be related to the current theme of Gifted Awareness Week - 'Varied Voices, Shared Future'
- Be submitted by 4 May 2026.
- Be either in written format (100-800 words), a video of less than 5 minutes, or a piece of art such as a poem, short story or artwork.
- Be an expression of your personal and/or professional experience of giftedness.
- Include complete references and acknowledgement of sources.
- Ensure that any and all images included are copyright-free images, or a personal image that you have rights to and permission to use.
