Expression of interest in presenting during Gifted Awareness Week 2026
The Australian Association for the Education of Gifted and Talented (AAEGT) invites you to share your expertise during Gifted Awareness Week.
In 2026 Gifted Awareness Week will run from 18-24 May, with the theme ‘Varied Voices, Shared Future’, and we are currently seeking presenters. This year’s theme aims to give a voice to those gifted students who often remain un-identified or unsupported.
Although we know giftedness occurs across all cultures and socioeconomic groups, research shows that gifted students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Indigenous students, girls, those living in rural or remote areas and twice-exceptional learners can often be overlooked for gifted education supports.
Gifted Awareness Week 2026 is a call to those who see giftedness from different perspectives and lived realities. We're inviting educators, researchers, psychologists, parents, advocates and gifted individuals themselves to add their voice to the national conversation.
We're keen to hear from people with expertise or lived experience in a variety of areas, such as but not limited to:
- Young and early-entry learners and how their needs shift over time
- Culturally and linguistically diverse communities, where giftedness can be expressed differently or overlooked entirely
- Indigenous gifted perspectives
- Twice-exceptional learners, navigating both strengths and challenges within the school system
- Adults who were, or weren't, identified as gifted at school - to help others learn from their experiences
- Those with expertise in giftedness among those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds
- Those with expertise on giftedness in girls or women.
